Lawrence Joseph "Happy Joe" Whitty founded the restaurant in 1972 in Iowa to offer Americans their favorite meal and dessert, pizza and ice cream. Happy Joe's Pizza and Ice Cream now includes eight company-owned and 34 franchise locations nationally and internationally.
