Marriott’s “Moxy Hotel brand,” with rooms “second to the adventure,” is in the works for “an empty lot” at “55 N. Fifth Ave.” Mini accommodations: The “hotel will be six stories,” and to appeal to “traveling minimalists,” its “134 rooms” will “average…185 square feet.” Sparse furnishings: Instead of "dressers and closets,” there will be “[p]egs… to hang clothes,” while “the bed frames have cutout cubbies underneath to stash a suitcase.” Location=amenity: Moxy will “have a bar and lounge,” as well as “a snack station,” “but no other amenities because the concept is that guests will be exploring the rest of the city,” and the hotel’s “amenity is its location.” Price tag, team & timeline: “The $33 million project is expected to take 18 months to construct and developers [Scott Stiteler and Rudy Dabdoub] hope to break ground in early 2026.”
