A groundbreaking ceremony was held this week for a downtown-area apartment complex at 115 W. Main Ave. that involves preserving a historic home just south of the railroad tracks.

The development by Gorman & Company, which specializes in revitalizing downtown areas through partnerships with municipalities, government organizations and nonprofits, is intended to provide affordable housing in downtown Casa Grande.

A total of 64 units in Casa Grande Apartments will be constructed, including one-, two- and three-bedroom “affordable” housing units.
