Pflugerville is trying to outdistance itself from Austin’s suburbs by undertaking a significant downtown redevelopment program. The Downtown East project, a 29-acre mixed-use development that will extend the city’s Main Street, will include a community plaza, a new city hall, a new parking garage and a recreation center. Located at the northwest corner of Farm to Market Road 685 and Pecan Street, Downtown East will also include retail and office space.
