Microsoft is spending $4 billion to expand its data center footprint in Wisconsin with a second data center.
The first one, scheduled to open in early 2026, will contain hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips, Brad Smith, Microsoft’s president and vice chair, said at a press conference.
Microsoft plans to match the amount of energy it consumes from fossil fuel sources with carbon-free energy it will contribute to the grid, Smith said.
